Carniny Youth 1 – 1 Newhill FC
Carniny Youth started brightly, with Newhill pushing hard in the early stages, but Fletcher was in top form between the sticks, pulling off a brilliant early save to keep things level. That set the tone for his night.
Midway through the half, Oisín carved out our first real chance, sparking the boys into life. Jay kept the pressure on with a few dangerous breaks, but Newhill were tidy in possession and gave us plenty to think about. As the half wore on, Carniny began to settle, growing stronger and more confident with every attack.
With six minutes left in the first half, Jay produced a moment of pure class — a sensational top-corner screamer to put Carniny 1–0 up! Unfortunately, Newhill hit back just before the whistle, pouncing on a loose ball to level things up in what was a tough end to the half.
The second half was a real battle. Fletcher continued his heroics, pulling off a series of calm, crucial saves to keep Newhill from sneaking ahead. Carniny worked hard to find a winner, but despite the effort and some promising build-up, the breakthrough just wouldn’t come. The game finished on a sour note with Jacob taking an elbow to the face, but the boys kept their heads and showed great resilience.
A draw wasn’t the result we wanted, but there was plenty of heart, effort, and teamwork on display.
Man of the Match: Fletcher His outstanding saves throughout the game kept Carniny firmly in the contest. Top performance.
