After a few tough results, the 2016s get their first points of the new campaign.

Up against a team, who from the offset were hungry for a result. The boys battled throughout and found themselves ahead from Jay playing out from the back linking well with Oisin who squared it perfectly for Isaac to power home. His first goal for the club. Willowbank added extra pressure soon after and came close with a shot rattling the cross bar. Oisin, who was having a fantastic first half, had a shot off the post and then another shot off the keeper before it fell for Jacob for Carniny’s second. A sweet strike on the half volley to beat the keeper.

The halftime team talk consisted of the boys being told to continue as they were, everything was clicking to perfection. That being said Willowbank came out of the traps fired up. A scrappy start to the second half had Willowbank back in the hunt from a goal from a corner. We eventually gained a free kick from surely too far out. Kai stepped up and almost Beckham like put the ball past the keeper and into the top corer before the match was put to bed in the latter stages with Kai swinging in a corner and finding Jay at the back post.

A solid performance from the team, a game won in defence and midfield. Matt and Jay totally on their game, keeping danger at bay. Man of the Match was Isaac. Wee fella took his first goal brilliantly and played with an understanding of where his team mates were throughout.
