Carniny 2 Newhill FC 2
Ballymena Showgrounds
24/10/26 9.15am ko

The boys got off to a flying start, with captain Zack burying his effort into the top corner inside the first minute! Newhill responded with a high lob to level and came close again soon after. The boys regained the lead through an unreal passage of play, starting with Logan and moving through Max and Ollie before Dami finished to mark his debut with a goal! Logan then struck a great free kick, forcing an excellent save from the Newhill keeper, before the visitors levelled with a superb free kick of their own. Newhill sent a penalty over the bar, and chances at both ends rounded off an action packed first half.

Newhill threatened early after the break, hitting the post in an incident that also left Alfie hurt. He was soon making another brilliant save and continued to produce when we needed him most. With Newhill having the better of the early second half play, Alfie’s saves were vital in keeping us level while the boys dug deep in front of him. There was nearly a winner right at the death when Conor’s excellent running down the left found Max, whose effort struck the post with the final chance of the game!

Man of the Match today was Zack
The captain himself was an absolute rock out there today, leading by example and getting us started with a goal into the top corner in style. A fantastic performance. Well done, Zack!

Absolutely terrible conditions at the Showgrounds made controlling the ball difficult for both teams, with even throw ins proving a challenge. Despite that, both sides put on a fantastic battle. After a shaky start to the season, the boys are really showing how they can dig in, fight for each other and come away with a result. Well done, boys!
