Ards Rangers FC 0–2 Carniny Youth U13s
Grove Playing Fields — Saturday 17 October, 10:30am KO
Carniny claimed their first win of the season with a determined and hard‑fought performance at Grove Playing Fields, overcoming Ards Rangers in a competitive encounter.
The visitors started brightly, creating early pressure through a series of set pieces. Zack went close from a corner, while Danny’s lively play down the right kept Ards pinned back. That strong start was rewarded when Ollie calmly finished to give Carniny a deserved lead.
Ards began to settle after the opener, but Carniny struck again before the break. Good link‑up play from Jake Lorimer and Max released Ollie, who slotted home his second of the morning to make it 2–0. Ards threatened with a volley from a corner, and Carniny created another chance through Jack, but the Reds carried their two‑goal advantage into half‑time.
The second half became a scrappier battle, with Ards pushing hard to find a way back into the game. A contentious free kick — awarded despite a high‑studs challenge on Jake — saw Ards rattle the crossbar. Carniny had chances of their own, with Jake Lowry going close twice in quick succession, but the final stages were all about grit and discipline. Despite rising pressure and Ollie picking up a booking, Carniny stood firm to protect their clean sheet and secure a long‑awaited first victory.
Man of the Match: Danny — his best performance since rejoining the squad. Energetic, intelligent on the ball, winning possession and linking play superbly throughout.
A brilliant team effort and a reward for the boys’ hard work through a tough start to the season. A proper battling win.
