Carniny Amateurs U13 vs Aquinas Swifts U13

Back to SBYL action for the U13 Amateurs this week, and it was a super start to the season. The lads have put the effort in during pre season & it showed. Alfie played a lovely through ball to Jackson for the first goal, quickly followed by James H turning in a sharp ball from Isaac. Jackson took his second after Pacey fed the ball down the left. Our defence of Pacey, Ollie & James F was rarely troubled, but when Aquinas broke on a couple of occasions they stood strong, supported by stand in 2015 GK Kai. Alfie & Kelean bossed the midfield area, pulling all the strings. The introduction of Mason M, Oliver, Mason G & Zak added great energy, which led to Mason M taking a goal on his debut from a rebound after Isaac’s shot. James F then added a 5th after picking up the deflection of his own throw in, curling a left footed effort into the top of the net.

In the second half the Amateurs spread the play well & with the result looking solid, a focus was placed on passing the ball & creating opportunities. Kai made a super save, very alert when called upon in an otherwise quiet game, top job!! Pacey fired a shot which fell to Kelean, who superbly tucked it past the Aquinas GK. Alfie assisted Jackson for his hat trick, with James H grabbing his second shortly after. Aquinas did well to not give up, and grabbed a consolation goal with the last kick of the game.

Great start, new teammates, a group of lads learning each other’s football. Onwards and upwards from a very impressive start, there will be bigger challenges ahead, the coaches are sure the Amateurs will rise to the challenge!!!
