Carniny Amateurs U12s 1–2 Mossley Academy U12s
South Belfast Youth League
Sponsored by Curragh Van Sales

Carniny Amateurs faced a different kind of SBYL challenge as the season nears its conclusion, coming up against a well‑organised and confident Mossley Academy side in a competitive midweek fixture.

Carniny began brightly, using the width well through Isaac and Jackson, who worked hard to supply Leyton and James H in the forward areas. Despite good movement and intent, nothing quite broke for the attackers. In midfield, Alfie battled strongly, and the introduction of Kelean added fresh energy — but a well‑timed Mossley through ball put the visitors ahead.

That goal lifted Mossley, and they quickly doubled their lead. At that point the Carniny defence — James F, Ollie and Pacey — had to stand firm, dealing with wave after wave of pressure to keep the game alive.

Carniny responded well. With Zak introduced, the Amateurs pushed forward and forced an indirect free kick, followed shortly by a penalty. Isaac stepped up and smashed it home with real conviction to pull the Reds back into the contest.

HT 1–2

The half‑time message was simple: energy, belief, and bravery on the ball. The response was exactly what the coaches wanted. Carniny came out flying, pressing high and putting Mossley under sustained pressure. Jackson broke through several times, linking well with Zak and James H, who were both unlucky not to find the equaliser.

As the game entered its final moments, Carniny threw everything forward. Isaac and Kelean combined well, and in the dying seconds Isaac rattled the crossbar — agonisingly close to levelling the match.

Despite the result, the performance was full of heart, character and determination. The coaches were hugely proud of the response against a strong Mossley side.
