2013 Girls League Cup – Q/F
Location: Ballysillan
Carniny AYFC Girls U13 booked their place in the semi‑finals of the 2013 Girls League Cup after a tense and dramatic penalty shootout victory over St. Malachy’s Girls U13 in Ballysillan.
The game was evenly balanced from the outset, with both sides showing real attacking intent in an exciting end‑to‑end contest. Carniny looked sharp going forward and created several promising openings, while St. Malachy’s remained well‑organised and dangerous on the counter.
Despite chances at both ends, neither team could find the breakthrough during normal time. Carniny’s back line stood firm, and the midfield worked tirelessly to keep the pressure on, but the match finished 0–0 and headed straight to penalties.
With a semi‑final place on the line, Carniny showed impressive composure from the spot, converting all three of their penalties. St. Malachy’s managed just one, thanks in large part to a superb performance from goalkeeper Evie, who produced two outstanding saves in the shootout to secure the win.
It was a competitive, entertaining cup tie played in great spirit, but it is Carniny AYFC Girls U13 who advance to the next round after a gritty and determined display.
