Having missed the chance to wrap up the title last weekend, Carniny experienced another nervy opening during which they were grateful to keeper Jake R for an important save.

At the other end, skipper Seth hit the crossbar from close range following a corner as the first half ended scoreless.

The deadlock was broken a minute into the second period when Jake R's clearance was seized upon by Alex to fire past the Doyle keeper.

The Belfast side levelled midway though the half when they fired home at the second attempt despite a valiant effort to block by Jake R.

In a second half of high energy but few chances, Mark came closest to winning it for Carniny with a speculative cross-shot which came back off the crossbar.

The final whistle prompted great scenes as the Carniny players celebrated in front of their parents and relatives, who have shown great commitment in bringing the boys to and from matches all season.

In a season punctuated by injury, illness and adversity, the close-knit relationship between this group of boys has helped guide them through some tricky spells and they are fully deserving of their success.

Man of the match was Frankie for a tireless performance on the flanks, underpinned by a real willingness to track back and provide defensive cover as well.
