With two players ruled out during the week due to season‑ending fractures, Carniny travelled to Ballysillan Leisure Centre with a depleted squad. Despite the disruption, the young Reds worked tirelessly throughout against a Holywood side who moved the ball quickly and confidently.

Carniny trailed 1–0 at half‑time after an unfortunate own goal, and two quick Holywood strikes early in the second half left the Ballymena boys with a mountain to climb. To their credit, Carniny responded superbly, enjoying their best spell of the match. Alex pulled a goal back soon afterwards, and both he and Isaac forced smart saves from the Holywood goalkeeper.

Despite their efforts, Carniny couldn’t reduce the deficit further, and Holywood deservedly progressed to the semi‑final. The sides will meet again on Tuesday night in league action, giving Carniny an immediate opportunity to respond.
