U12 Carniny Youth 3-0 Dromara Village
Carniny Youth 2014s returned to competitive action following a weather-enforced break with an emphatic 3-0 win over Dromara Village at Mallusk.
On a pitch that held up surprisingly well after the recent wet weather, Carniny grabbed an early lead when captain Alex latched on to Billy's defence-splitting pass to slot past the advancing keeper. Billy was also instrumental in the Reds' second goal with a strong run to the bye-line before delivering a brilliant cross which Alex knocked down into the path of Harlow, who lashed a left-footed shot high into the net.
In the second half, another clever through ball - this time from Frankie - set up Alex for a similar goal to his first and finally put the game beyond Dromara. While the coaches were delighted with the clinical finishing, they were equally pleased with a strong defensive display and a clean sheet for keeper Jake and his defenders.
Man of the match was Billy for a hard-working display topped off by those key contributions to the first two goals.
The boys are now hoping for an upturn in the weather and a regular run of competitive games in which to illustrate their hard work in training.
