Having seen an early penalty crash off the base of the post, it set the tone for a frustrating morning for the Reds in a feisty encounter.
In a game of few chances, the Belfast side looked threatening yet rarely forced Carniny keeper Jake R into action. At the other end, Carniny's attacks were sporadic yet clear-cut but the Reds were unable to produce the decisive finishing touch. Carniny almost grabbed the winner with virtually the last kick when Zayn's dipping cross came back off the crossbar. Frankie was the first player to react to the loose ball, only for the Celtic keeper to produce an incredible reflex save as the game ended goalless.
On a day when Carniny had to demonstrate their physical attributes more so than their footballing ones, Jake W was man of the match for a rugged display in the centre of defence.
After another difficult week of injury and illness, the boys gave a typically whole-hearted display and will look forward to their final league fixture next weekend before the Christmas break.
