Carniny got off to the worst possible start, conceding a penalty inside the opening five minutes which allowed Olderfleet to take an early lead. Things went from bad to worse on 20 minutes when the Reds were reduced to ten men after a dangerous tackle resulted in a straight red card.

Olderfleet doubled their advantage soon after. A long throw was launched into the Carniny box and, despite two clear fouls on Carniny defenders in the build‑up, the goal was allowed to stand.
2–0 to the visitors at half‑time.

Carniny came out fighting after the break. Despite being a man down, they sparked into life when Dean Wright clipped a clever ball into Jay Peacock, who finished past the keeper to pull it back to 2–1.

Olderfleet restored their two‑goal cushion with a lofted free kick into the box. The ball ricocheted off a Carniny defender and fell kindly for a visiting forward who made it 3–1.

But Carniny refused to fold. A long cross‑field pass from Dean Wright found Mark Lowry, whose strike cannoned off the post. Adrian Dubyna reacted quickest, smashing home the rebound to make it 3–2 and set up a tense finish.

Carniny pushed hard for an equaliser and came agonisingly close. As Peacock shaped to shoot inside the box, he was clipped from behind — a clear penalty — but the referee waved play on. Moments later, the final whistle blew with the game finishing 3–2 to Olderfleet, leaving the Reds frustrated after a spirited second‑half fightback.
