Homers came out of the blocks fastest in this game and had the ball in the back of the Carniny net just 3 minutes in but the tap in was adjudged offside. They did open the scoring however, 5 mins in, after a turnover in midfield saw a through ball pass to their forward who raced towards goal and slotted in from the right hand side of the box. Four mins later a cross whipped in from the left flank found the head of a Homers man who saw his header initially saved by McKillop, but the rebound fell kindly for the same man to score from close range. Goal number 3 also came from a well-saved shot from McKillop, but once again the ball fell kindly for a tap-in at the back post.
Carniny came out in a more determined fashion in the second half and pulled one back after Sean Byrne headed in a Jay Peacock cross. Carniny went on to score their second after a Mark Lowry shot was handled in the box, with Matthew McComb stepping up to convert, 3-2 to the visitors.
Only 1 minute later Homers scored their 4th after a quick corner caught Carniny out and left a man free at the back post to nod back across into the net.
A spirited performance in the second half, but Carniny will be kicking themselves on their slow start to the game. Nevertheless a good performance against first division table toppers, Harryville
