The Reds came away with all three points on Saturday, though it was far from a vintage performance at home. They looked to have earned a penalty on 25 mins when Ben Kirk played a superb through ball for Kai Kirk to chase. As Kai broke into the box, he was clipped by a defender — but despite strong appeals, the referee waved play on. Just a minute later, Carniny took the lead. Leighton Mairs delivered a dangerous cross into the box, and under pressure, a Holywell defender turned the ball into his own net.
Early in the second half, after a defensive mix up, Carniny nearly handed an equalizer to the visitors who capitalized on the mistake but hit the post. The Reds tried hard to increase their lead in the second half but were left largely frustrated, but claimed the three points in the end.
