U14 SBYFL Cup Quarter Final – Saturday

The U14s progressed into their SBYFL league cup semi-final after a 4-0 win over Bangor YM U14s, with a hat trick from Cody and one from Thomas. Carniny were playing with the wind on their backs in the first half and 15 mins in Thomas lofted a high ball toward the Bangor goal, with the Bangor keeper just getting his fingertips to it, but not enough to keep it out of the net, 1-0 Carniny. Five mins later the wee reds doubled their lead through a well taken shot from young Cody. The same player got his second with an even better effort and Carniny's third, two mins from half time.

Into the second half and Carniny were expecting to be pinned back into their half playing into the wind with Bangor coming forward more, but the back four of Lucas, Bryce, Leon, and Oliver dealt well with attacks. Carniny still pressed forward with the midfield of Thomas, Noah and Connaire linking up well and Callum, Tiernan and Cody causing problems up top. Cody completed his hat trick after opening some space for himself and getting his shot past the keeper for Carniny's fourth goal. Bangor were still determined to get something out of game and looked to have pulled a goal back, but Alex in the Carniny goal pulled off a single handed save to put the shot past his post. The reds held firm, winning 4-0 and progressing into the semi-finals where they will meet Rosario.
