Carniny Under‑15s rounded off their Divisional Cup campaign with a well‑earned 4–2 win over Downpatrick on Sunday morning. The boys started brightly, putting their opponents under real pressure from the first whistle, with Robbie and PK immediately causing problems in the final third.
Robbie went close several times — including a cross‑shot that struck the far post — before Downpatrick took the lead against the run of play with their first meaningful attack. Carniny responded superbly, and from a corner Robbie found space in a crowded six‑yard box to level the game.
Downpatrick regained the lead from a long free‑kick over the top, but Carniny hit back again before the break. Ben’s deep delivery from a free‑kick deceived everyone, bouncing straight in at the back post to make it 2–2 at half‑time.
The second half was tight, but Carniny created the clearer chances. Strong midfield work from John and Luke released Robbie and PK repeatedly, and the pressure finally told when Robbie powered through the centre‑backs and fired home his third of the morning to seal the win. The boys defended well in the closing stages, dealing confidently with high balls into the box to see out a deserved 4–2 victory.
