U15s UNLUCKLY IN NINE GOAL THRILLER

Site Admin1 Feb - 18:56

The U15s lost out by the odd goal in nine at the weekend

The under 15s were on the wrong side of a 5-4 result in their match against Andersonstown CFC on Saturday morning. The boys started well enough and were having no problem keeping out ACFC attacks. After fifteen minutes a clearance from a corner fell to an ACFC midfielder on the edge of the box. His shot was well saved by Riley but a forward was on hand to score from close range. Andersonstown pushed hard for a second but good work in midfield by Sam, Robbie and Joshua helped to protect the defence. Carniny were able to equalise when Andrew struck a great volley from twenty-five yards which flew past the keeper. PK then scored twice with long range efforts to give the boys a 3-1 lead. Carniny were well on top coming up to the break but Andersonstown got a free kick out on the touchline. The free kick was played in to the far post and the ACFC forward got there first to score from inside the six yard area. This made the score 3-2 at half time.

Andersonstown came out strongly in the second half and soon scored an equaliser through a good passing move. There was little between the teams at this stage but Carniny were beginning to struggle to match the strength of the opposition. Luke came on at this stage of the game for his first match back since breaking his arm at training and he played well in midfield. With fifteen minutes to go Harley hit a great volley from distance and the ACFC keeper was unable to stop it. Again Carniny were on top but a goalkeeping error allowed Andersonstown to equalise and they took the lead with another long range shot with only five minutes to go. The boys pushed hard to get back on level terms and from a corner the ball was twice cleared off the ACFC goaline but they couldn’t force it home. The game ended 5-4 to ACFC. It was a good performance by the boys and they were unlucky not to get something from the game.
