South Belfast Youth League – Under-13
Dromara Village 1–1 Carniny Youth

After two high-scoring performances to open the campaign, the Ballymena boys found Dromara a far more stubborn outfit to break down. Clear chances were scarce in a cagey first half, though Billy went closest when his powerful strike was parried away by the goalkeeper. At the other end, Jake R twice showed sharp reactions, racing off his line to smother through balls at the attackers’ feet.

Carniny forced a succession of corners, and five minutes before the interval a clever variation finally unlocked the defence. Caleb played a short corner to Alfie, whose superb delivery from the right was met by Alex, rising highest to power a header into the net from eight yards.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Carniny enjoying territory but being limited mostly to half-chances. Their defensive shape remained solid until a brief lapse allowed Dromara a rare opening, from which they converted the equaliser.

The draw felt frustrating for the players, but the coaching team were encouraged by the boys’ ability to show different qualities from previous weeks — resilience, discipline, and patience against a tough opponent.

Man of the Match: Frankie, for a determined defensive display and excellent reading of the game.
