CARNINY YOUTH 2012 V COACHING FOR CHRIST (5-2)
Carniny continued their good league form with a hard fought 5-2 win over a very well organised Coaching for Christ side at Wakehurst on Saturday morning. Carniny knew that if they were to get anything from the game, they would have to be at their best, particularly as the opposing team had defeated Carniny by 4 goals with no reply just weeks earlier. Whilst the scoreline suggested a routine win for Carniny, it was far from it. Both teams went at it from the opening whistle and either team could have taken an early lead. However, good play on the left from Houston saw him beating his man and putting himself clear on goal firing the ball past the CFC keeper to put Carniny in front. Back came CFC again with a glorious chance to equalise but thankfully their forward put it wide. That did not dampen spirits for CFC who quickly got back on level terms with a well taken equaliser. For the remainder of the half, Carniny forward Zac Hanna took centre stage and drove his team forward with two great finishes, one coming from a run deep in his own half and the other coming from a Houston assist. Just as the half was drawing to a close, CFC again got another opportunity to pull a goal back through a penalty. It was Musial in the Carniny goal who stood strong and kept the penalty at bay to send his team in 3-1 up at halftime.
HT 3-1
Just the same way the first half ended, the second half began the same with CFC starting the stronger and getting a well deserved second goal to bring them back into it. Knox who was playing at the back for Carniny, was exceptional and tidied any loose balls up with Brown in midfield causing havoc at times. Beattie was also solid at the back alongside Forgrave and Bovill. The midfield of Ramsey, Brown and Kulik worked tirelessly with Gordon and Houston continually testing the CFC fullbacks. It was Houston again who was involved in Carniny's fourth goal with another driving run down the left and a cross field ball across goal saw Douglas with an opportunistic finish to try and put the game out of CFC reach. Just as the game was coming to a close a driving run from Davidson saw him upended outside the box and Knox stood up and hit the resulting free kick into the net. Alot of tough games still lie ahead, but a well earned three points will hopefully give the boys some confidence going forward into the business end of the season.
FT 5-2
MOM: A three way split with Knox, Hanna and Brown all standing out today.
