A real team effort helped extend Carniny's unbeaten run to five games with every player and substitute all playing their part up at Hydebank Playing Fields. The game started off with scrappy play from both sides, with the ball continually finding its way out on the left and Houston making use of the space and driving towards goal. It was one of his runs that resulted in him being upended by the Bangor right back and was awarded a penalty. It was Houston himself who stepped up and dispatched the ball into the net to put Carniny one goal up. Carniny continued to dominate at this stage with Forgrave, James and Ramsey doing well in midfield. Beattie kept a well drilled backline in check, keeping Kulik and Hanna on their toes. Good forward play from Houston, Knox, Bovill and Douglas kept Carniny probing for a second goal. Bangor finished the half the stronger team and it was Musial in nets who kept Carniny with their noses in front.
HT (1-0)
A few half time changes had Carniny come out firing at the beginning of the half with Knox in particular starting to get a hold in midfield aided by Harrington. The introduction of Doak and Brown also injected new life into the Carniny forward line and it wasn't long until Carniny got a second goal with James pouncing on a loose ball in midfield and striking it first time and sailing into the top corner, a strike worthy of winning any game. Special mention to Beattie who was absolutely faultless in defence today and led by example, with Cochrane and Hanna playing their part.
FT (2-0)
MOM: The match referee decided that Noah Houston was today's man of the match.
