Carniny U13 1-4 Aquinas
SBYL – Strangford Avenue - Saturday
Carniny under 13s lost 4-1 to Aquinas at Strangford Avenue on Saturday morning. This was an improved performance from the last meeting of the two teams but once again defensive lapses cost Carniny dearly. The match started well for Carniny and both sides had chances to score. Aquinas were dangerous down both wings and it was from a cross that they opened the scoring. Jake had two chances when he was through on goals but the first was hit from too far out and the second was smothered by the keeper. Any hope of an equaliser was quickly gone when Aquinas scored from a corner early in the second half. The score was 2-0 from a free header in the six-yard area. This was followed soon after by another goal when attackers weren’t closely marked. Carniny were working hard all over the pitch with Robbie making lots of tackles. Jamie made several good saves in nets but there was little threat up front. Aquinas added a fourth late on in the game and Harry was able to score a late consolation goal for Carniny, but Aquinas were worthy winners.
