Carniny U12 Girls 3 -1 Berlin Swiftettes
SBYL
Carniny U12 Girls finished their first ever SBYL season on a high with a 3-1 win against Berlin Swiftettes. In an impressive team display, the girls' early pressure was rewarded when Sofia pounced on a loose Berlin goal kick to drill home the opener. After a lapse of concentration at the back allowed Berlin to equalise before halftime, the girls started the second half as they had the first and soon retook the lead. Just when the Berlin defence thought they had done enough to force a Carniny attack wide, Emily beat the keeper with a ferocious left foot strike into the far corner of the net. When a run and cross from Emily caused more panic in the Berlin defence, Sofia was on hand to guide the ball in off the post from the edge of the box for her second and Carniny's third. Some hard running in midfield, strong work by the defence and a couple of late stops from Kacey Leigh in goals saw Carniny through to a deserved win to round off what has been a fantastic first season for all the girls. Player of the Match went to Khyia for a hard-working performance despite only recently returning from a knee injury.
