Carniny U9 1-1 Ballyclare Comrades (1-3 Pens)
SBYL Knockout Cup – Quarter Final – Blanchflower Stadium – Friday
Another fantastic performance by the Under 9’s against a team that easily beat us earlier in the season. Carniny were the better team in the first half and the opening goal came from a corner from Theo, that Adam converted at the back post. Unfortunately, Carniny went to sleep after the goal and almost immediately conceded an equalizer. Carniny continued to play good football in the second half and created several good chances but couldn’t convert. Jack had a shot that hit the side netting and Noah had a shot well saved from the keeper.
With the score 1-1 at full time the game went to a penalty shootout. Ballyclare had the luck on their side and converted all three of their penalties while Carniny missed their first. A disappointing way to get knocked out of the cup but the boys should hold their heads up high with the performance. The coaching team couldn’t ask any more from them after this performance.
