Carniny U16s bowed out of the cup after extra time at Hydebank this morning, losing 4–2 to Drumaness Mills in a frustrating performance that never quite hit the levels shown so far this season.

The boys found themselves behind inside two minutes when a high ball into the box caused a scramble, allowing a Drumaness forward to stab the ball into the roof of the net. Carniny struggled to settle, with slack passing disrupting their rhythm and limiting chances. They were unfortunate to fall 2–0 behind midway through the half when a Drumaness attacker — appearing clearly offside — was allowed to run through and finish low into the corner.

Carniny improved after the break but still found it difficult to break down Drumaness’ determined defensive shape. With ten minutes left, a moment of quality sparked the comeback: excellent play down the right ended with Sam Henry firing a superb 20‑yard strike into the top corner.

The goal lifted the team, and Carniny surged forward. Andrew and Max delivered dangerous balls into the front men, but last‑ditch defending kept them out — until the 88th minute. A free kick from Max found Andrew in a crowded box, and he rose brilliantly to head home the equaliser.
