Tiernan Treble Seals Victory at Mallusk
Another fine performance from the boys saw them claim all three points on Sunday at Mallusk, with Tiernan bagging a superb hat trick to lead the charge.
The opener came after a pinpoint through ball left Tiernan one-on-one with the keeper, and he made no mistake—coolly lifting the ball over the onrushing stopper to make it 1–0. Moments later, Byrce delivered a lovely ball over the top, and Tiernan was in again. This time he rounded the keeper with composure and slotted home for 2–0.
He came close to his third early in the second half with a beautifully struck free kick that shaved the top corner. But the hat trick was sealed in style: Sonny switched play smartly to Brandon, who beat his man down the right and whipped in a dangerous ball across the box. Tiernan was perfectly placed to take a touch and smash it into the net.
Belfast Celtic Cubs grabbed a late consolation with the final action of the game—a looping header from a corner—but the result was never in doubt.
