The younger teams of the 8s, 9s, 10s and 11s held their end of season function in the grand surroundings of Tullyglass House Hotel on Friday night with the final club 'do' this week for the Senior side, Under 19s and 17s at Galgorm Resort & Spa.

The junior function was a great night with almost 250 present and the Stars of the Night being the Under 10s who lifted the Junior Team of the Year Stewart McAuley award in recognition of them creating three sides in competitive football and winning quite a few awards under supremo Gary Ward! Children (and parents) on the night were entertained by the Ball Juggling expert Sam Madden whilst former Carniny 'RED' Matthew Shevlin was there to hand out the awards speaking to the children about his good times at Carniny and his success now as a full time player at Coleraine F.C.

Good times at Carniny as the curtain comes down on a 24th season which has been packed with glory.

AHEAD OF THE GAME COURSE ARRANGED

Carniny are running an AHEAD OF THE GAME course for its members on Tuesday 18th June 2024 at Ballymena Bowling Club starting at 7pm covering the subject of mental health. Carniny have always been proactive in training their members not only with football related projects but other topics which can benefit their staff and players alike.

SUMMER BLITZ AT CARNHILL

The club will be holding a summer blitz at their home ground at Carnhill for children born in the years 2020, 2019 and 2018 so keep an eye on the clubs’ social media for details. They may also be experimenting with some particular age groups as the club makes plans for the future.

LATEST TEAMS FORMED

Young people born in 2017 are invited to trial at Carniny and should contact Steven Craig on 07860101476 for details of summer dates. All the clubs’ teams will be inviting trialists over the summer to come along and have a go!

Another girls team will also be formed within the girls’ section with a possibility of even two teams depending on how recruitment goes within the girl’s section which goes from strength to strength.

SOCIAL TEAM TO BE FORMED

The club have a new idea in creating a 'social' team for adults who cannot commit to regular games/training due to work or family commitments yet still enjoy a game now and then or training. This is intended for former players although guests 18 years and above would be welcome. Anyone interested contact Billy O'Flaherty for details for a programme which will hopefully start shortly.
