The majority of Carniny Youth sides kicked off their respective campaigns last week, playing in the NIBFA Subway NI National, Lisburn Invitational and South Belfast Youth Leagues.
The Under 12 s got off to a flying start in the Lisburn league with a 6-2 win over Carryduff, whilst the Under 13s lost out to Greenisland in their first venture into 11 a side football.
The U14s wrapped up a busy week with a loss to early league leaders, Cliftonville and a win against Glentoran Academy and finally a pleasing win against local rivals Ballymena Utd YA in the National League at the Showgrounds.
The U11s were left disappointed when their opponents failed to show up for their scheduled match.
Many thought it would be an uphill struggle for Carniny to reform their 1999 ( Under 17s ) to compete in this seasons ‘ELITE’ National Youth League but a fine victory in their opening match against Cookstown Youth, proved the effort put in by the Club worthwhile. A large squad of new players from locally and beyond has been put together to allow the boys to compete in the popular Friday Night home and away NIBFA Subway National league games.
Staff of the newly formed team were also delighted to hear of the news of recently acquired sponsorship which will benefit the team during the season. It is also hoped that this under 17 side will take up the offer of a visit to the North East of England as guests of Premiership partners, Sunderland AFC/Foundation of Light similarly to last seasons under 17 side.
The club are still offering trials to prospective players who believe they are of the required standard to compete at this level and those interested should contact Davy McComb 07803596967 or Ian Morton 07721596775.
The club’s senior side Carniny Amateurs also had a win against Atletico Antrim in the BSML with a brace from Scott Buxton.
Carniny Now Enrolling for Coerver Football Development Centre
With the Sunderland Coaching now behind the club they are concentrating their efforts on the latest session of their Football Development Centre which now incorporates Coerver Coaching methods.
The club are delighted to become a partner club of Coerver Coaching Ulster by introducing the popular coaching method into their next Football Development Centre session commencing in September.
The new session will cater for children born in the years 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008. The club particularly welcome applications for children born in 2011 and although there may be some spaces available for those born in, 2009 and 2008, but spaces maybe limited.
This is an excellent opportunity for local children who are starting out in football with Coerver Coaching Ulster Director, Austin Speight acting as lead coach at every session with Carniny Coaches also in attendance. The first session will take place over a ten week period (23rd Sept) and will take place at an indoor venue on Monday evenings with ‘games’ days on a Saturday.
If anyone wishes to enrol their child they should contact the club as soon as possible to secure a place. Please contact Linda Boyd on 07788548780. Alternatively contact via email davy.boyd.work@googlemail.com. There will be a information meeting with host Coach Austin Speight on Monday 7th Sept for all those enrolling for the sessions.
