Carniny AYFC Weekly Match Reports – Weekend 12th September 2025

Carniny Youth U13 3–2 Chimney Corner

SBYL - Saturday 13th – Mallusk Playing Fields

With both teams coming into the match off strong starts to the season, Carniny Youth knew Chimney Corner would be a serious challenge. The first half was a fast-paced contest, with wingbacks Conlan and Cailen driving forward and creating early momentum. Jake delivered a dangerous corner, and Ollie was in the right spot to tap home the opener. Defensively, Lucas, Harry, and Jack absorbed pressure well, with Reuben distributing calmly from the back. Chimney Corner found a way back into the game after a brief lapse, but Carniny regained the lead before the break—Ollie pouncing on a loose ball and finishing with composure. The second half remained evenly matched. Zack and Jake combined well in midfield, controlling the tempo and linking play. Max and Archie were both unlucky not to score, while Cailen’s tireless pressing paid off—winning the ball high and firing over the keeper for Carniny’s third. Chimney Corner responded with a brilliant solo effort, but Carniny dug deep defensively to hold on. A gritty, determined performance from both sides. Man of the Match: Cailen McCrystal—covered every blade of grass and took his goal superbly. Special mention to Dylan Turtle for stepping in and helping steady the ship.

Scorers: Ollie (2) Cailen (1)

Carniny Amateurs U13 0–1 Moyola Olympic FC

SBYL – Saturday 13th - Colaistre Feirste

Carniny kicked off their campaign with a spirited performance against a well-matched Moyola FC side. The opening twenty minutes saw Carniny play some of their best football—creating chances, testing the keeper, and applying constant pressure. Jayden, making his debut, impressed with sharp runs in behind. Jamie Orr was electric down the left, linking up brilliantly with Cormac to carve open the defence. Conor and Alfie were kept busy by Moyola’s No. 5—a tall, quick, and skilful forward—with Alfie pulling off a superb one-on-one save to keep the scores level. Defensively, Harry and Jamie Harrison put in solid shifts, while Jake Lowry and Jack Cochrane were influential in driving the ball forward. Despite the pressure, Moyola managed to sneak a goal ten minutes from time—a scrappy finish that could’ve gone either way. Man of the Match: Seth—an imposing, athletic presence at the back, showing real promise for the season ahead. A strong first outing from the squad, full of energy and teamwork.

Carniny Youth U14 3-4 Rosario Colts

SBYL – Friday 12th - Crumlin Leisure Centre

A first league game for Carniny and one that ended in defeat on a Friday night in Crumlin.

A good start from the boys saw them take an early one goal lead with Houston providing a fizzing ball across the Rosario goalmouth that resulted in Ramsey getting there first and

putting the ball into the net. Early joy was quick lived with Rosario replying instantly and levelling the game with a well taken finish. The majority of the first half was largely dominated by Carniny, and another wave of attacking play paid dividends when Hanna went on a maurauding run turning his defender and finishing into the bottom corner to put Carniny 2-1 ahead. A rejuvenated Rosario came out in the second half with a point to prove and it would be a fair assessment to say that they out fought Carniny for large parts and deservedly equalised early in the half. Rosario was in the ascendency now and took the lead for the first time in the game with another good finish. Carniny started to to get back into the game and started to probe again, however it was defender Beattie who produced a long-distance drive into the roof of the net in the latter stages of the game to draw Carniny level at 3-3. What looked like Carniny would go on and win the game, turned on its head when a Rosario free kick was floated to the back post and found a Rosario player who was quick to pounce and produced a great finish beyond the Carniny keeper.

MOM: Beattie

Carniny U15 3-4 Newhill

SBYL – Sunday 1t4th – Mallusk Playing Fields

Carniny Under 15s kicked off their season this morning with a spirited performance against Newhill, despite a frustrating final scoreline. The Reds started brightly, playing some excellent football from back to front. Harry and Robbie were a constant threat up front, causing problems for the Newhill defence. Carniny dominated early possession and earned several corners but couldn’t convert their chances. Against the run of play, Newhill took the lead after 25 minutes when a high free kick bounced over the goalkeeper and into the net. Misfortune struck again shortly after, as a speculative cross deceived the keeper and crept in at the far post, leaving Carniny 2-0 down at the break. The second half saw a determined response. Robbie Montgomery sparked the comeback, racing through to slot low past the keeper. Just five minutes later, he latched onto a superb through ball from Andrew and coolly finished to level the score at 2-2. Carniny were in full control, and Robbie completed his hat-trick with a composed finish following some slick build-up play. However, Newhill found an equaliser from another free kick that again bounced over the keeper. In the dying moments, they snatched a winner with a controversial goal that appeared offside, sneaking in at the near post.
