Carniny started off like a freight train playing fast flowing football and were 3 nil up in the first twenty minutes through Wright, McClintock and Nellins. The last fifteen minutes of the first half Carniny took their foot off the gas and conceded three quick goals to go in at the half three each
Half time 3-3
Carniny again started fast and a great through ball down the right by Adair played in McClintock who drove in a dangerous low cross which cannoned off the the Glenavy defender to regain the lead.
Wright scored from a tight angle to give Carniny a two goal cushion. Glenavy again proved stubborn by hitting back again.
After some nice football Nellins picked the ball up about 35 yards out and struck a thunderbolt into the top left corner giving the keeper no chance.
Glenavy suffered another own goal after a great ball into the box from Wright. Anthony Greer finished off a great move to make it 8-5. Glenavy scored a consolation right at the end.
Special mention to the four U17s who stepped up and David and Sam on their debuts.
