The U18s got their season off to a winning start with a 4-2 win over Chimney Corner at the Showgrounds on Friday night. The wee reds had an early chance through White, but the Corner keeper denied him at the near post. It was Carniny who opened the scoring when a Scullion throw was flicked on inside the box by White to Peacock at the back post to calmy slot past the keeper. Corner were back on level terms on 11 mins when a well place cross field ball found their wide man on the left flank who hit a well struck shot which was blocked by Elliot in the Carniny goal but not enough to see it bouncing over the line. Five mins later the visitors took the lead from a corner that Carniny failed to deal with and a striker swilled round to score from close range. Carniny drew level with Greer heading home from a lofted free kick into the box. HT 2-2

Chimney did have the ball in the net early in the second half but the goal was ruled off side. The reds went on to take the lead through a corner with Peacock heading across the box with McClintock getting the final touch off his head. With the back four of Adams, Martin and the Logan duo holding firm for the second period and White causing problems for the visitors defence, Carniny got themselves some breathing space with their fourth goal, with White feeding in Peacock, who weaved his way past two defenders to score the last goal of the game. 4-2 FT
