Carniny Amateur and Youth FC 3-2 Braid Utd
This was a keenly contested game with both teams showing the desire to reach a cup final. There was little in the game in the first half, with neither team having any clear cut chances. However it was Braid who took the lead in the game with David Birt left unmarked by the Carniny defence at a corner giving the Braid man a free header from a Ruairi Hagan cross to give his team a 1-0 lead with 5 minutes to the break.
Carniny came out in the second and were back on level terms three mins in when a Dean Wright shot was tipped on to the bar by keeper McManus in the Braid goal but Sean Byrne was on hand to head the rebound in. Braid went ahead again on 76 mins with Caolan Tierney playing a ball into Hagan who did well to lose his defender and put the ball round the keeper. That didn't last long however when 15 secs after the restart the ball was in their own net with Peacock feeding Johnston down the left flank to see him cross first time to find Byrne at the far post who made no mistake finishing well to bring it back to two each. With no further goals the game moved into extra time and three mins in Johnston floated the ball over the Braid defence finding Peter Adams who saw his shot initially saved by the Braid, but he spilled it out with Dean Wright there to pounce in and score the winning goal of the game. With no further goals in extra time it was Carniny who booked themselves a spot in the final.
