The seniors got their league campaign off to the best possible start with a 3-0 win over Waveney Swifts in what were hot conditions for the evening game.
Both teams started brightly with Carniny breaking the deadlock on 9 mins when Jay Peacock weaved through the Swifts defence and fed Adrian Dubyna in for his first of the game. Less than 10 mins later Dubyna scored his second with some neat short passing in the box which ended with Alexander laying off to the former for him to score from close range. On 46 mins Alexander broke through the defence and heading for goal unselfishly squared to the incoming John Costello who finished well for Carniny's third.
The second half was a scrappy affair with Carniny going close on a few occassions with Aaron Johnston hitting the bar but there were no more goals from either team with Waveney going close in the dying minutes when Luke Elliott was forced to deftly tip an incoming shot over the bar to keep an clean sheet. Not a vintage performance from the reds, but 3 pts and a clean sheet to see them top of league.
