This match was a high intensity game with both team playing their first match of the season. Carniny had a couple of efforts in the opening minutes but Saints came back into the game later in the half and after a few corners took the lead with a Saints player nodding home from inside the yard box. Carniny weren't ready to sit back and just over a minute had the scores level when a Jay Peacock shot could omly be parried by the keeper with Adrian Dubyna on hand to rifle home form close range.
Carniny were on the back foot early in the second half but good work from Kiearn Ashcroft took a shot on goal putting a Saints defender under pressure, directing it into his own net. Carniny had the ball in the net again when an Aaron Johnston cross found Jake Wright in the box who forced it home with his shoulder but the refereee waved it away for hand ball. All Saints threw everything at Carniny in the dying minutes but the defence held firm but Saints missed a gilt edged chance at the back post but it wasn't to be and Carniny held on to take the win with a great team performance with Captain John Costello in super form in defence.
