FIRST FRIENDLY FOR 15s

A first pre season fixture of the season for both sides and they played out a really competitive game. Carniny started the game the better of the two teams and created a couple of early chances. Both Ewart and Duddy unlucky not to score. Half way through the fist half Carniny won a free kick about 20 yards out, up stepped McCartney and not for the first time he finds the top corner direct from the free kick. A quick free kick from Shields put Ewart clean through who made no mistake this time with a neat finish. Carniny continued to dominate the first half and were unlucky not to extend their lead. Sittlington did however pull off a magnificent save pushing a long range effort onto the bar.

In the second half Coaching for Christ really came out strong and and pegged Carniny back. The midfield trio of Barr, McDonald and Black worked their socks off and the back line of Sittlington, McCrickard, Wilson, Shields and Khan blocked and charged down everything. Carniny did concede eventually after a speculative shot took a wicked deflection and beat Sittlington in goal. Carniny managed to see out the rest of the game and claim a 2-1 victory over a team a league above them. Keep up the good work.
