Carniny U13 2-2 Knockbreda
SBYL – Billy Neil Playing Fields - Saturday
The boys played Knockbreda at Billy Neil playing fields on Saturday morning and came away with a 2-2 draw. Carniny had a strong side out and were hopeful of a win against a side who are also struggling at the bottom of the table. Carniny started well and took the lead through a well struck shot from Luke M which took a slight deflection before flying into the top corner. Carniny were playing well and creating chances against a strong Knockbreda side. Jake extended the lead when he ran on to a good through ball and fired into the bottom corner giving their keeper no chance. With the wind behind them Carniny should have increased their lead but instead allowed Knockbreda back into the game when they failed to clear the ball and the Knockbreda striker scored from inside the box.
The wind was against Carniny in the second half and they started poorly when they failed to challenge strongly for a ball in the area and Knockbreda equalised from close range. Knockbreda had several other chances to take the lead but saves by Jamie and good defensive work by Ben and John kept the score level. Carniny also had chances to take the lead, the best of which fell to Jake who raced away from two Knockbreda defenders but his shot from the edge of the box went straight to the keeper. The game finished all square which was a fair result and leaves the teams joint bottom of their section.
