Carniny U13 2-4 Crumlin Star

SBYL – Mallusk – Sat 24th

Carniny Under 13s played Crumlin Star at Mallusk on Saturday morning and despite a strong fightback lost 4-2. They conceded the first goal from a corner when they left a Crumlin player unmarked in the six yard area. They went two down right away from the restart when the defence were caught in possession and the Crumlin forward ran on to score. It was soon 3-0 following hesitation in the Carniny defence and Crumlin took advantage with a low shot. Carniny were battling all over the pitch and created several good scoring chances through Robbie and Lilly. The first effort went narrowly wide and the second was well saved by the keeper. Carniny did get a goal back from a corner. Luke hit a great ball to the back post and Ben headed in from close range to give Carniny hope. Carniny started well in the second half and pulled another goal back through Lily who slotted home from close range. Crumlin were always dangerous in attack and Jamie made several good saves to keep Carniny in the game. Following their second goal Carniny looked like getting an equaliser but despite several attacks they couldn’t score again, and Crumlin snatched a late goal to put the result beyond doubt. Carniny deserved more from their performance but again mistakes cost them dearly.
