Carniny U13 2-4 Glentoran Girls
SBYL – Valley Leisure Centre - Sat
The Carniny boys under 13 team lost 4-2 to Glentoran girls’ team on Saturday morning at the Valley leisure centre. It was a much-changed Carniny team that started against Glentoran who took an early lead after a period of sustained pressure. Carniny were defending well but couldn’t get out of their own half. Glentoran took a two nil lead soon after following a deflected shot. Carniny didn’t give up and began to create some chances of their own. Harry scored with a well-struck shot which flew into the corner of the net to make it 2-1 at half-time. Carniny started well in the second half and were putting more pressure on the Glentoran defence through some strong runs from Lily playing her first match for the team. Carniny drew level with another goof effort this time from PK. However, a mix up at the back allowed Glentoran to score again and they added a fourth shortly after to leave the final score 4-2. It was a much better performance by the under 13s than in recent games. They have been struggling in matches against teams of better quality and have wilted under pressure but in this game, they fought all the way to the end. Man of the match was Robbie.
