Carniny U13 1-4 Knockbreda

Both teams observed a minute’s silence before the game between Carniny and Knockbreda at Mallusk on Saturday morning. Both teams had dropped down a section in the SBYL and both were looking for a win following difficult starts to the season. It was Knockbreda who started strongly and took an early lead following a good strike from their left winger. Carniny were battling well to pull back and Robbie grabbed an equaliser with a well-taken individual goal. He was also through on goal again with a good chance but pushed the ball too far and it ran through to the Knockbreda keeper. Knockbreda took the lead again following a mix up in defence when a low shot flew past Jamie in nets. This seemed to unsettle Carniny and Knockbreda took command and scored twice more before the break. In the second half Carniny battled back into the game and created several chances. Robbie

again was through on goals but pulled his low shot wide of the goal. Knockbreda remained dangerous but the Carniny defence kept out several attempts. Rhys was having a great game in central defence alongside Ben and Jamie made some good saves. Towards the end of the game Robbie was brought down in the box and Luke took the penalty but his low strike went wide of goals. The match ended 4-1 to Knockbreda and Carniny are still waiting for their second win in this difficult season.
