Carniny Under 13s lost 5-2 to St. Malachy’s Cosmos at Mallusk on Saturday morning. As has been the case in the last few games Carniny had to go behind before they began to get into the game. St. Malachy’s were sharper to the ball in the early stages of the game and took a two-goal lead. The second goal was clearly offside, but the referee ignored appeals. Ben pulled a goal back for Carniny with a well-taken header from Jake’s corner. At that stage Carniny were well in the game and it was 2-1 at half time. The second half started very evenly but it was St. Malachy’s who went further ahead following a mix up in defence. Robbie got Carniny back in the game with a great run and shot. He should have got an equaliser, but St. Malachy’s keeper pulled off a great save. Shortly afterwards St. Malachy’s scored their fourth from a cross into the box and they wrapped up the points with a fifth goal five minutes from time. This was an improved performance from Carniny from the previous week, but they are still finding life tough in the first division.
