Carniny were under pressure from the kick off against a strong Ards side. Ards went ahead after five minutes following a good run and shot from their number nine. Carniny were struggling in the heat and often second to the ball. They went two down following a penalty given for a clumsy challenge on the Ards centre forward which was neatly put away. Carniny were struggling to compete all over the pitch and went three down when they failed to clear a corner.
Carniny were grateful for the half time whistle to get a breather. They began the second half in better form and right away put pressure on the Ards defence. The performance all over the pitch was much better in the second half and several good scoring chances were created. PK had a great chance to pull a goal back but his shot from twelve yards was well saved by the keeper. Robbie and Leo also had good chances but they couldn’t put the ball in the net. The game ended 3-0 to Ards and although the second half was better for Carniny they need better performances against the quality sides in this section.
