Carniny under 13s beat Knockbreda 3-0 this morning in their first match of the new season at Mount Pleasant.
The boys put early pressure on Knockbreda and had one or two chances. Knockbreda were dangerous on the break and Jamie in nets had to make a few saves. Robbie and Leo were working hard up front to pressure Knockbreda’s defence. Robbie opened the scoring with a well struck shot past the keeper into the left corner of the net. The Carniny defence worked hard to close down any threats with John and Ben forming a good partnership in the centre. Leo added a second goal on twenty minutes with a good run and shot past the keeper. He extended the lead with a penalty after he was brought down by the keeper as he went to go round him.
The second half was a fairly even contest with Knockbreda having a few opportunities to score but Jamie was on hand to make saves. Luke M and Pk were battling hard in midfield and creating chances with good passes. Carniny also had scoring chances which should have been put away but shots were either off target or at the keeper.
The match ended 3-0 and it was a good result and performance by Carniny in their opening game.
